DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES & MENTORING

I have produced programmes for emerging artists and creative industry professionals, in addition to mentoring for youth programmes. I am passionate about supporting talent to reach their potential.

N18, GREAT EXHIBITION OF THE NORTH

In response to The Great Exhibition of the North, 19 aspiring and emerging artists from across the North joined a ten-week programme to learn new skills, collaborate, and creatively respond using digital technology. I was employed as a mentor, workshop leader, and event programmer.

During the two-month intensive mentoring role, I worked with a group of emerging artists, with a focus on encouraging them to incorporate digital skills and new technologies into their practice. The mentees included Manoli Moriaty, Ruth Mary Johnson, and Sophie Ashcroft, and I guided them through the development of a series of micro-commissions.

CREATIVE LAB, MANCHESTER INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

The development programme worked with a cohort of 20 creative practitioners, supporting them to utilise digital and new technologies in their practice and generate a series of creative responses to Manchester International Festival's themes and commissions. I designed and led a workshop for the cohort focusing on practice development and the analysis of the meaning of digital in a creative and content context. Additionally, I had the pleasure of working closely with the cohort across two residential lab weekends in a pastoral management capacity.

The programme hosted international artists and companies sharing their knowledge and experience, including The White Pube, Christian Payne, Hardeep Pandhal, Delaval Film, Kate O’Hara from Duck Soup Films, Sparklab - Mel Harris, Alex Rowse from Punchdrunk, and Alexander Whitley. You can find more information about the programme here.

FAULTLINES, FUTUREEVERYTHING

I worked as the executive producer and cohort manager for Faultlines, a talent development and commissioning programme for art in technology innovation. The programmes vision was to support artists to develop art practice in technology innovation, and to create new opportunities in how artists work and where and who art is commissioned by. I came into the role in the programmes second year, developing a bespoke development programme for each of the artists and leveraging commissions and opportunities with partners such as CityVerve, STARTS European Commission and SHIFT Cheshire east. Artists included  Kasia MolgaDan HettLing TanHelen KnowlesNaho MatsudaChomko & RosierPeter J Evans.

GLOBAL FUTRLAB, FUTUREEVERYTHING & BRITISH COUNCIL

Global FutrLab was a two-day international innovation and creative talent programme that took place in Manchester in partnership with FutureEverything and the British Council. The lab brought together innovators from all over the world to explore the relationship between innovation and infrastructure and promote civic resilience.

As part of the programme, there were exhibitions, talks, workshops, and networking events that showcased a variety of art and technology works. As a manager and co-programmer of the event, I was responsible for managing the cohort residency and producing the final showcase. It was an excellent opportunity to bring together creative and innovative individuals and fuel global conversations and knowledge exchange.
